FOCUSED FRIDAY | 000. the introduction

Happy New Year, Turn My Life Up Family!

I hope you had a good Christmas and enjoyed it with family, fellowship and lots of food! And now, if you're like most people in this season you're probably thinking about plans for this New Year. You might be like me and be thinking about how you can stop a bad habit, make more money or if you had a bad year last year, you may want to make plans to not make 2018 a continuation of 2017. If that's the case 🙋🏾 I understand! I've been there, done that - got the t-shirt, hat, scarves, boots (hey, I don't like being cold!) and bumper sticker to prove it!

While I'm talking about where I've been, this is a good time for me to officially introduce myself to you guys:

My name is Rashida Jackson. I am a wife, entrepreneur, writer, aspiring graphic designer and above all else a lover of God and continual recipient of His love for me. Some things that I enjoy are pizza, lots of pizza (in moderation - if that makes sense), deep intellectual conversations, spending quality time with my husband Eric, hanging out with friends and peppermints - random, I know but so true.

Moving on to a little bit about my background and why I'm writing this blog series of focus. 2016 was a challenging year for me, I had graduated from college with honors in 2010 and six years later, I felt like I hadn't accomplished much of anything. In fact, I had more failures than I had achievements. I just did not feel I was living out my purpose.

When I came to my lowest point in November 2016, I knew it was time for a change, and God walked me through how to make the changes that were necessary to begin to build a vision for my life. One major change that I needed was to learn how to focus. God taught me the skill of focus and living intentionally and I truly believe that learning this skillset, from the Lord played a major part in totally transforming my life in 2017. Now I am on the road to healing, wholeness, and truly fulfilling my purpose.

This journey also lead me to connect with Bosa and the TMLU blog and now I get to share with you what God has shared with me and hopefully this will lead you to a successful 2018 through a blog series I like to call #FocusedFridays! Every Friday for about 8-9 weeks we will bring you a blog that will help to increase your focus and help you to be all God called you to be.

Before we get started with our journey, there are a few things I'd like to share with you. These things I will share in the coming weeks are a list of things the Holy Spirit has shown me that worked for me. But different people have different ways of processing information. Feel free to be led by the Lord to adjust things accordingly

⁃ I’m not an expert but I'm teaching from my experience and revelation!!

⁃ You are going to get out of this what you put into this!
When learning about focus or really anything, you will get the maximum benefits depending on how much you choose to put into studying and applying these steps. I believe the steps we will give in the next couple of weeks will help you, IF you commit to diligently working these principles.

⁃ There may be some concepts or points that will be shared that you are probably going to think... “I’ve heard this before” or “I know this.” I encourage you that if any of those thoughts try to come to your mind - cast them down and stay open!

Eric and I watched Brian Houston recently and he shared about the power of receptivity. Remaining receptive opens you up to something you’ve actually never seen before. Think of John 3:16... you could say... “ah, I’ve heard that before! I don’t need to hear or read that again, I know it by heart.” Well, the word said that there is no limit to His wisdom!

Our Lord is great and has awesome power; there is no limit to his wisdom.” -Psalms 147:5

John 1:1 says that the Word was God... So can you really know all there is to know about John 3:16 or about Him for that matter? We should ALWAYS stay open to learn new things even from seemingly old stuff!! This is something I have to exercise D-A-I-L-Y! Consciously, remain OPEN minded and open in spirit to receive what is said.

Here are two things that I highly suggest that you do asap so that you can be prepared when we start on this Friday!

Watch the video below. I learned about this lesson when I was in the middle of creating this series in 2017 and when I heard it, it perfectly sums up the spiritual aspects of all of this series!! When you watch the video you will see the speaker speak on Strategic Intentions & Divine Productivity. This is a where I believe the principles of #FocusedFriday are extremely beneficial. But if you're not at that stage, that does not mean that you cannot apply the principles from this series immediately! I just believe that if you are in this stage in your walk with God, you are going to see the maximum results from applying the principles from #FocusedFridays. And if you aren't this stage just yet, pray about how you can make a goal this year to develop your relationship with the Lord to the stage of Divine Productivity.

Also think over this until we start on January 5th.

What do you want to be said or remembered of you when you die? Or when you get caught up in the rapture?

Hey, I believe we may see the Messiah soon and very soon.... we are going to see the King. Come on sing it with me: 🎶 ‘Ha-a-le-lu-u-jah / Ooo-oooo-ooo-ooo-oooo’

(Andre Crouch - Soon and Very Soon... get it? If not, listen now!)

Y'all be blessed guys and I look forward to starting our #FocusedFriday blog series on.

-Rashida
