Seek: An attempt to find something
The one thing I ask of the Lord— the thing I seek most— is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditating in his Temple. –Psalms 27:4
When introduced with something new I always want to research about it. I want to become more accustomed to it. Whether it be a new restaurant, a new movie, even new shoes I HAVE to know everything about it before I even think of going to it or buying it. I have been thinking about my relationship with the Lord lately and I won’t lie it is pretty unstable. It’s like that Katy Perry song “Hot N’ Cold” one day I’m so pumped and on fire for God and the next day it is like brrr… Cold. I remember getting frustrated the other day and saying, ok screaming, “God why am I not feeling this today?! Why am I not in the mood to read Your word?! I heard God say, “because I am not something new to you.” I was immediately convicted. With new things, I tended to consume myself with knowledge. It was true I had become disinterested.
I let the relationship become stagnant. Desensitized. I had let the things that were not important take precedence.
I don’t know if anyone has gone through the same thing that I have. But through this I have really learned that I need to stay intentional.
I encourage you to, take interest in the things of God. Don’t let the relationship become dull. Continue to be passionate and about Him and His word. Even though it may be the same scriptures that you have read a trillion times, He may have something new He wants you to learn from that scripture.
I lost passion in my prayer life because I made my quiet time boring. I made it seem like a chore. It was a ritual. I turned it into a religious event and not a personal conversation.
Don’t let the new car smell wear off… Keep working at it
Seek to find meaning in the word of God.
Matthew 6:33 says, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”
From now on I am seeking…
