Who are you? More importantly, who does God think you are? It was only a few years ago that I truly learned and had a vision through God’s eyes of my identity in Him. It was also then that I learned of my enemies plot to steal and change my identity.
For years I used a different name and identity, not realizing that it was stealing the manifestation of my TRUE identity in Christ.
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” -Romans 8:14 KJV
There it is, right there, if you are led by the spirit of God, you are a SON (or DAUGHTER) of the
Almighty! You are called out to be in the Holy Family of God, sanctified by the blood of Jesus
Up until I received this revelation in 2014, I had an alter ego. I didn’t feel like the real Kevin was good enough, so I had a surname “The Modern Day Hero: Kevin Douglas”. I had great intentions, as the name implicates. I did honorable things and achieved great success. But after about 7 years something started to happen, I started to lose myself in this character I had propped myself up as. My real ego, Kevin Frazier, was nowhere to be found. The man God had called at the young age of 8, had been lost almost completely. Now the only thing righteous about me was the character I portrayed, and even that started to become less stable.
Then on a fateful night in June of 2014, God called me out. I had come to the end of what I could be without Him. There was no more “Modern Day Hero” or “Kevin Douglas”. There were only fragments of Kevin Frazier left, but with God, that’s enough.
I watched a video called “Imperfect Strength” by Trent Shelton. After that, I knew I wanted to be the SON that He intended me to be all along. That Sunday at church, Pastor Justin Bridges bestowed on me the calling to become a SON of God. The broken me, the insignificant me, the me that I never thought would be good enough for the world, was good enough for God. And from that moment, my true ego, my true identity, started to manifest and grow. And just as the Word says I’m a New creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Before I close it needs to be noted, that in John 10:10 it says that the enemy will try to steal, kill and destroy you. Your identity is what he’s after most. Your ability to claim your birthright as Sons and Daughters of The Most High. But the end of that verse says, “But I have come that you may have life, and have it more abundantly.” James 4:7 says, “Submit to God, resist the Devil and he will flee from you.” Stand on that when the trials come. They will.
Now here it is two years later to the date almost, and here I am hoping to inspire you to have the same revelation from God in your life. God turned my life around so fast, that within a couple of years those hard times seem like a dream. And I understand how those times helped me, see the man I was to become, and now am. I had to come to the end of my alter ego, and started building my true self. The Son of God I was called to be.
