God's Dream

“But seek ye first the kingdom of heaven and all these things will be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33

It’s such a common thing to want to go after your dreams. Our dreams are prioritized so much that often we think of achieving them as the pinnacle of life.

“Chase your dreams”… we hear it everyday. It’s perfectly acceptable to spend your whole life trying to achieve your dreams. I’m here to tell you today that there’s actually something BETTER than achieving your dreams.

How is this so? Well the Bible plainly says that “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”-Isaiah 55:12.

What He’s saying to us is, what WE want will never be as good as what HE wants for us.

For so long it was always presented to me as “God’s Plan”. You know what I’m saying, we’ve all had mamma tell us that our actions are NOT God’s Plan for our life when we acted bad. Or “God’s Will”. If you’ve ever been to church you’ve been told about being in the “Will of God”, or had someone pray God’s Will over your life. All that has blessed me and I’m not saying it’s wrong AT ALL… But God has a way of taking it higher!

It wasn’t until my life, my personal ministry, was put in the context of “God’s Dream for my life”, that it broke my heart. It just broke me, for life. I had been so blessed yet so selfish. Cause I’ll tell you right now up till that revelation I’d achieved dream after dream. Taken on goal after goal and conquered where and what I wanted.

Never did I think about what HE wanted. All via mercy y’all. I felt so empty.

One day I got tired of being an empty little kid, being bailed out by God time after time for chasing dreams lower than what we had planned. Paul says that “When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.” -1 Corinthians 13:11.

I like to say it like this, “When I was a child I sought after MY dreams, as an adult I seek after God’s Dreams.”

That’s when I devoted myself to living for him and what he wanted for me. I was now in search of him to reveal to me what his dreams for my life were. And He didn’t disappoint.

The scripture that sums it up best for me is Luke 4:18: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,”.

His dream for me is to fulfill this scripture daily, and the journey to fulfilling this dream has been the most fruitful stage of my life. What’s God’s Dream for your life? I stand in prayer with you that you’ll put your dreams away and go to God and ask him for His dreams for your life. Don’t worry about your dreams because God always finds a way to give you what you’ve always wanted in the route to seeking what He wants for you. Remember the scripture at the top, seek the kingdom first… He’s got you!
