Go After

“Go after a life of love as if your life depended on it – because it does.”  –  1 Corinthians 14:1 MSG

To be honest, after I was given the opportunity to join Turn My Life Up I was rather hesitant. I am the type of person who likes to commit to something only when I know I that I can dedicate my best to it. Not out of a place of perfectionism, but out of a place of whole-heartedness. I desire to be a good steward in every sense of the word, I guess. As I was debating the idea, I had a revelation. This project is more than just a blog, it is a place where people from all walks of life can come together and be completely transparent as they whole-heartedly purse the heart of the Father. Soon after this thought my heart settled. Not because of the blog necessarily, but because I was fully confident in my heart’s pursuit of God, which stemmed my desire to share his love to all and any who would hear.

“Be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God.” – Matthew 5:16 MSG

The more I have lived this life, the more and more I have come to understand my desperate need for the Father’s love. It is only His love that saves me, only His love that holds me and keeps me, only His love that can satisfy my ever-wondering soul. The truth is, whether we’d like to admit it or not, we are fickle beings constantly searching for affectation. God’s greatest desire is to pick up the broken pieces in our lives. To hold our regrets and disappointments in the palms of his hands and to make something beautiful out of the things that we only see as filth or decay.

“I‘m leaving you well and whole. That’s my parting gift to you. Peace. I don’t leave you the way you’re use to being left – feeling abandoned, bereft. So don’t be upset. Don’t be distraught.” –  John 14:27 MSG

No matter what has happened. No matter what we have done. No matter who has left us. We can be fully confident that God’s love for us is so much greater, so much sweeter. He hasn’t forgotten you… and he never will. The only way we can ever have peace in this life and ever truly live is by going after a life saturated in God’s love for us. There have been so many times in my life where I didn’t care to stop my heart’s walls from building up. And yet, even when I gave up on God, he never thought once to give up on this silly head of curly hair.

“There’s no place I can go, your love won’t find me
No place I could hide that you don’t see
No place I could fall, your love couldn’t catch me
You see it all, you see it all through the eyes of love”
